During the Winter Solstice last yer I recommended a bunch of short books for y’all to read since it is the shortest day in the year. Today is the Spring Equinox, where both the night and day are each roughly the same length so in honor of the Equinox today I want to recommend to you some average length books (300-400 pages) that you can easily read in a day if you wished to do so. Today I have another tag for y’all. Have you ever wondered what defines me as a reader ,(probably not) or how I became the reader I am today (you probably don’t care)? I’ve been having a bit of writers blately when it comes to writing posts, so I thought what better way to break through that than with a tag. I know this tag was wildly popular last year, and so I thought I’d try my hand at it. So here goes, the Totally Should’ve Book Tag.
The best part of every week are definitely the Tuesdays. Not only because you’ve managed to survive Monday (ugh) but because NEW BOOKS. Since it’s still kind of the beginning of the month I thought it would be great to compile in one place some of my anticipated releases of March here for anyone even slightly interested. Read More »
Hello everyone! I know I’ve been a bit MIA for a while, but I’ve been awfully sick for the past week. There’s this bug that’s been going around for awhile and I seem to have caught it. Although I’m feeling loads better now, I’m not completely over it, but it seems high past time to have posted by wrap up for February, so here it is. Read More »
I finally reached that milestone. The thing every reader dreams of, meeting the person who created something they fell in love with. The person who single-handedly changed parts of your life with their writing; authors. If you haven’t guessed already by the title of this post, I recently (earlier today actually) got to meet one of my favorite authors for the first time; or to be more specific I actually got to meet an author for the first time!!! AAAAAHHHHHGGGGG. Read More »
I’m pretty sure the title is pretty self-explanatory. I shall do a tag today. An unpopular one. Here goes…Read More »
Book Title: These Ruthless Deeds
Author: Tarun Shakur and Kelly Zekas
Release date: March 14 2017
Publisher: Swoon Reads
Page Count: 320 pages
I had a lot of fun reading this book, anything that takes place in Victorian England with fantastical elements is right up my ally. It did take me a little bit to get into this book because I couldn’t remember much of what had happened in the first book, but over the course of the first hundred pages most of the main events came back to me and I was able to enjoy it a lot more.
England, 1883. Still recovering from a devastating loss, Evelyn is determined to use her powers to save other gifted people from those who would harm them. But when her rescue of a young telekinetic girl goes terribly wrong, Evelyn finds herself indebted to a secret society devoted to recruiting and protecting people like Evelyn and her friends.
As she follows the Society’s orders, healing the sick and embarking on perilous recruitment missions, Evelyn sees her problems disappear. Her reputation is repaired, her friends are provided for, and her parents are newly wealthy. She reunites with the dashing Mr. Kent and recovers the reclusive Mr. Braddock (who has much less to brood over now that the Society can help him to control his dangerous power). But Evelyn can’t help fearing the Society is more sinister than it appears…

This was definitely the perfect time to read this book, it’s so close to valentines day and I’ve been in a romance novel type of mood, so obviously I picked up a Lauren Blakely book. Let me just preface this by saying I love her books. They’re all funny sweet and steamy in the best ways. They’re a fun and easy to read and I breezed through this really quickly. If ya’ll love new adult you should definitely give it a shot.
I’ve been told I have quite a gift.
Hey, I don’t just mean in my pants. I’ve got a big brain too, and a huge heart of gold. And I like to use all my gifts to the fullest, the package included. Life is smooth sailing….
Until I find myself stuck between a rock and a sexy roommate, which makes for one very hard…place.
Because scoring an apartment in this city is harder than finding true love. So even if I have to shack up with my buddy’s smoking hot and incredibly amazing little sister, a man’s got to do what a man’s got to do.
I can resist Josie. I’m disciplined, I’m focused, and I keep my hands to myself, even in the mere five-hundred square feet we share. Until the one night she insists on sliding under the covers with me. It’ll help her sleep after what happened that day, she says.
Spoiler—neither one of us sleeps.
Did I mention she’s also one of my best friends? That she’s brilliant, beautiful and a total firecracker? Guess that makes her the full package too.
What’s a man stuck in a hard place to do?
Book Title: Wayfarer
Author: Alexandra Bracken
Release Date: January 3, 2017
Page Count: 532
It took me forever and a day to finish this book but I did it, and man I was just blown away. The last 50 pages of this book had me on the edge of my seat, and for a second there I thought that everything was gonna get messed up but it all works out in the end (yay!) This definitely made my top list of books of 2017 and it’s only February, that’s how good it is. There were so much adventure and romance; lots of time traveling and that last portion had me sucked in and I had to finish it in one sitting I couldn’t tear myself away!
All Etta Spencer wanted was to make her violin debut when she was thrust into a treacherous world where the struggle for power could alter history. After losing the one thing that would have allowed her to protect the Timeline, and the one person worth fighting for, Etta awakens alone in an unknown place and time, exposed to the threat of the two groups who would rather see her dead than succeed. When help arrives, it comes from the last person Etta ever expected—Julian Ironwood, the Grand Master’s heir who has long been presumed dead, and whose dangerous alliance with a man from Etta’s past could put them both at risk.
Meanwhile, Nicholas and Sophia are racing through time in order to locate Etta and the missing astrolabe with Ironwood travelers hot on their trail. They cross paths with a mercenary-for-hire, a cheeky girl named Li Min who quickly develops a flirtation with Sophia. But as the three of them attempt to evade their pursuers, Nicholas soon realizes that one of his companions may have ulterior motives.
As Etta and Nicholas fight to make their way back to one another, from Imperial Russia to the Vatican catacombs, time is rapidly shifting and changing into something unrecognizable… and might just run out on both of them.
